About the HUI Basketball

WHAT IS "HUI"?

HUI Basketball Club is the newest basketball club in the area, designed to change the face of “AAU” basketball. HUI Basketball Club was created to be a complete basketball player development program, integrating game play, team concepts, skill development, and athletic performance. This comprehensive program provides game play and world class training to all players in order to provide the necessary basketball components for players to reach their maximum potential.

HUI BASKETBALL GAME CHANGING PHILOSOPHY

There are several problems with today’s AAU culture and HUI Basketball Club is set to make a change, in player development and experience. While many AAU programs claim to be development minded, their actions speak differently. We will seek to teach the players to love the game of basketball and learn life lessons along the way that will be with them for the rest of their lives.

Problem #1: Too many practices

While many have pointed fingers at the amount of games that kids are playing these days, we point the finger of blame elsewhere. A program that truly believes in development would never require their teams to practice 2-3 times per week. This causes players to learn plays and systems over and above learning the skills of the game.

That’s why HUI Basketball Club teams will practice only 1 time per week each season. This gives our teams enough time to develop chemistry and learn to play together, without wasting time that could be better spent developing their skills and chasing their dreams.

Problem #2: Average Training

If players truly are to develop their skills they need to train with full-time world class trainers, rather than volunteers and AAU coaches. That’s why HUI Basketball Club has partnered with I’m Possible Basketball Training and their NBA Skill Enhancement Specialists to provide all club players access to the world’s best skill training and trainers.

COACHING

We will seek to provide the best coaching for our player what shares in the philosophy of teaching the game of basketball in a way that focuses on pure development and teaching life lessons for the players to take with them off the court.

All coaches are held to a high standard and are hand picked. Each coach shares in the philosophy of placing player development as a higher priority than winning. Team rosters are kept to a minimum of 10 to ensure players are given the opportunity to play and develop ON THE COURT, not on the bench. All coaches have experience in coaching youth teams at various levels and have all been introduced to the Im Possible training philosophy.

IT'S MORE THAN BASKETBALL

We will be establishing a Royce Browning Scholarship Fund wihin the organization to honor this individual who changed the face of AAU in the Greater Sacramento Area by providing countless opportunities for the youth to participate in competitive basketball. Royce was a dear friend, and his life was taken by the horrible ALS (Lou Gehrig's) Disease. We want to honor his legacy with the scholarship fund.

Funds will be given to senior students in the program that wil be chosen thru an application and selection process by a panel of evaluators.

We will also implement a Scholar/Athlete recognition program that will recognize those players that put the "books before the ball".
